If you have yet to buy a Kindle reader-the most popular ereader due to the fact that it was virtually first to hit the market, don’t despair because there are some top alternative choices out there. If you are currently shopping for a digital reader and have yet to take a look at some of the others besides the Kindle, Nook and Sony Readers, I will offer my suggestions-which are partially based on experience and partially on extensive research I have done. You see, I have a ebook reader blog, so I do daily research by delving into all of the information I can find online. It is a pleasure to work on the blog because I love the technology!
If English is not your number one language (or even if it is) and you wish to read books in your native tongue, consider taking a look at the BeBook One. It is a moderately priced, international ebook reader that supports over twenty of the world’s largest languages. This means that you can borrow books from your local library that are written in your native language. You can also buy the latest best sellers in any language you choose. In short, no matter what language you wish to read in-be it English, French, Russian, Chinese or any other, you simply change the settings and you can read away! I have the BeBook One and love it. It has a 6 inch screen that works with e-ink technology and I can load it with over 1,000 of my favorite books-although I currently only have a fraction of that number on the device now. There is also an SD card slot for expansion purposes if you have a large library. The One allows for easy bookmarking and organization of your reading collection. I also love the fact that the BeBook One comes with its own leather case, which not only looks great, but it protects the ereader when not in use and during times of travel. The BeBook Neo is WiFi capable and offers more screen space. Either one is a top choice.
If you wish to wait for the new Asus ebook readers, then you may be making a wise decision. Although I recommend the BeBook readers I also am personally very interested in the Asus DR950 and DR570 that are due out sometime soon, although it is rumored that the DR950 will arrive on the market first.
The Asus DR950 is a great looking digital reader that features a large, 9 inch display screen with 1024 x 768 resolution. Instead of e-ink it uses SiPix Microcup electronic paper which is more energy efficient. There is 4 GB of storage, an USB port, SD card slot and WiFi connectivity. On board too is a virtual keyboard and handwriting input mode as well as a dictionary. The smaller DR570 will offer a color screen, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.
These are exciting times for book readers everywhere. This year should prove to be very exciting as we welcome the new ebook readers to the world. Take a look at all of your choices-there are many and then buy the device that suits you best!
